An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words.

Charlie looked at Cassy. "Chad, this is Cassy, my co-worker and Cassy, this is my little brother Chad," Charlie said.
"Hey," Chad said."
"Hi," Cassy said and looked across the beach and saw Tia there. "Look, guys, I’ve gotta go," Cassy said.
Charlie followed her gaze to Tia. "Yeah, I’ll catch up with you in a minute," Charlie said. "Aren’t you gonna go surfing?" Cassy asked.
"Nah, maybe tomorrow," he said. Cassy nodded and smiled at Chad. "I'll see you around," she said and walked off. Cassy walked up to Tia. Charlie watched Cassy walk to Tia.
"Hot," Chad said when she was out of earshot. "Is she your next girl?" Charlie looked at his brother.
"Still deciding," he said.
"What's there to decide? You seem to like her, she's hot and she looks like a lot of fun," Chad said. Charlie gave a nod.
"Yeah, but it's just gonna be for the summer," Charlie said. "So?" Chad asked lifting an eyebrow. "She just doesn't seem like the kind who goes for a summer fling," Charlie said. "You know if I were you I'd just go for it. Who knows maybe she is the kind that goes for a summer fling," Chad said. Charlie looked at Cassy talking to Tia. "I say go for it," Chad said.
"What was that?" Tia asked. Cassy rolled her eyes.
"What was what?" she asked. "First a slow dance away from the party, then you guys come back holding hands," Tia said.
"What are you talking about? We weren't holding hands," Cassy said. This time Tia rolled her eyes. "Uh, yes, you were. Up until that guy came," Tia said. Cassy gave her a surprised look. "I didn't realize it," Cassy said slowly. She wondered if Charlie realized it . . . maybe. "Well, is there something going on between you two?" Tia asked. "No! Come on, it's Charlie," Cassy said. "And what's wrong with Charlie?" Tia asked. Cassy went silent for a few seconds. "Nothing, I just don't like him that way," Cassy said. Tia lifted her hands. "Ok, fine, let’s just enjoy the party," Tia said.
