Diana – an aristocratic backgroud

Diana Frances Spencer was born as the youngest daughter of Edward Spencer, Viscount Althorp, and his first wife, Frances Spencer, Viscountess at Park House on the Sandringham estate.

She was baptised at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, by Rt. Rev. Percy Herbert (rector of the church and former Bishop of Norwich and Blackburn; her godparents included John Floyd (the chairman of Christie's) and Mary Colman (a niece of the Queen Mother).

Kate - a “commoner” (but from a rich family)

Catherine was born at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading on 9 January 1982, and christened at St Andrew's Bradfield, Berkshire on 20 June 1982.

She is the eldest of three children born to Carole Elizabeth Middleton, a former flight attendant and now part-owner of Party Pieces, and Michael Francis Middleton, who also worked as a flight attendant. Now he is also an owner of Party Pieces.

William and Kate met in 2001, but it was on April 1, 2004 that the paparazzi learn for sure that the two were an item. So Kate and William were going out (on and off) for 7 (or maybe even more than 9) years before the wedding.

Charles proposed to Diana in February 1981, after a six-month courtship and they got married in St. Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981.

Diana

After finishing school at the Institut Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland, she moved to London. She began working with children and then started working as a kindergarten teacher at the Young England School.

Kate

She graduated in 2005 with an MA (Hons) degree in History of Art.

She had some short-lived jobs in the fashion industry before her marriage to William.
